Tennis arena in Uppsala, Sweden, installs LED lighting

LED lights are now lighting the tennis court as well as in parts of the offices, corridors and locker rooms of the tennis club USIF's (Uppsala Students IF) facility at Swan Pond. The student association is evaluating the installations and is a unique opportunity to reduce electricity consumption by 40-50 percent and act green.

Traditional lighting technologies of sports arenas are inefficient and contain dangerous substances. Conventional fluorescent lamps, being lit10 hours a day, usually last 1-2 years depending on the brand. The newly developed LED technology for stadiums and arenas will allow a lifespan of more than 10 years, and will be offered to all sports and event venues in Europe.

"Luminaire design is based on proven LED technology combined with new optical design in a unique chassis as sports facilities needs with the right lighting for dynamic activities," said Michael Niklasson.
