In the streets of Barcelona

If encountering the flashing eyes of your own cat in a dimly lit hallway weren't startling enough, imagine walking down a city street, only to be faced with a pack of demon-eyed pussycats gazing menacingly back at you in the darkness.

It’s the Art collective Ojo Señor which recreated the dastardly effect of tapetum lucidem, or eye shine, on posters studded with LED lights that were hung around the streets of Barcelona. The posters feature 10 mm color LEDs (in red, blue or white) which are powered by 3-volt batteries placed behind the paper. The collective first had the idea one night when they saw a cat staring at them with shiny eyes.

"Upon its head, with red extended mouth and solitary eye of fire, sat the hideous beast whose craft had seduced me into murder, and whose informing voice had consigned me to the hangman." Edgar Allan Poe, The Black Cat
