The US will unlock more funds for SSL

The DOE has started a new round of funding, for developers of energy-saving lighting technologies involving LEDs, after the Chinese government announced it will ban incandescent bulbs. With this action the Obama Administration and US government is hoping to help the country’s competitiveness in LED industry and the overall clean energy race.
This funding would help US companies to reduce LED production costs, and enable innovations in manufacturing equipment, processes, and process control.

SSL will help reduce US power consumption of ¼ by 2030, moreover if the policies are well implemented, they would save the US up to $15 billion, representing a greenhouse gas emissions reduction equivalent to 21 million cars being taken off the road.
