• The Human, a natural source of energy
In the infinite search for new sources of energy, it's not just solar, bio-fuels 3rd or 4th generation, wind, etc...
Researchers bring all their effort in order to find for us some new sources of production: and this time, it’s ourselves!
• The man produces energy doing (almost) nothing
Walking: at each step, a person produces 70 watts, each foot produce 5 to 8 watts by crushing the ground.
Without moving: we dispel the equivalent of 100 watts of heat and 10 times more if we are activated
• Experiences more or less successful
In Netherlands, we have already had the idea to use the energy dissipation in the clubs: When environment is synonymous with dance floor...
In 2010, downtown, the people of Toulouse (France) were able to try energy-producing slabs: The sidewalk turned the vibrations of the steps on energy.
This was to estimate the potential of this technology "Walk > energy" in a public place! On the 10 meters of the sidewalk demonstration, a walker makes 10 steps, each one producing 5W. After 10 steps, the energy produced would be sufficient to light a 50W bulb.
• Slabs light for London 2012?
The city of London would have planned to install 16 000 lighting slabs “Pavegen System” for the 2012 Olympic Games.
In Hong Kong, the company would use this energy recovered from the walkers to operate escalators.
A device is being tested in the London Underground since 2010 with the aim to provide at least 25% of the energy station.
