Southlake to encourage use of energy-saving LED lighting


SOUTHLAKE - The city wants to change its lighting ordinance to allow energy efficient LED lights at businesses, Southlake facilities and parks.

The current ordinance only allows LED, or light emitting diode, lights if they give off the same light as traditional high-pressure sodium lights.

The Southlake 2030 committee recommended changing the ordinance to meet the city's goal of being sustainable, energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
