German towns are retrofitting their streetlights with LED lights.

The German town Korbach is planning to replace the old streetlights by modern LED lights. Experts were discussing about their possibilities as the Direction of Eco-design forbids from 2012 to sell the old mercury vapor lamps. The expert Dr. Klaus Petry was contracted by the city to develop a plan for the future street lighting. According to his specifications, the LED market is the fastest growing and contains a lot of technical know how. Petry is recommending LED streetlights, as they are modern, energy saving and very Eco friendly.
