LED lights, help Camp Atterbury improve energy efficiency

Since 2008 Lt. Col. Andrew Fitzgerald, Atterbury’s manager is charged to find energy saving and ecological ways for the camp, considering that Atterbury has the size of a small city and is spending about $ 5 million per year on utilities. So he recently found the solution for saving money in lighting. He wants to change the lights in the camp to efficient LED lights.

The energy-sipping LED lights use roughly half the power of fluorescent lights.

Installation of such energy-saving measures will be a part of any new construction on base, and engineers intend to retrofit the base's existing buildings, which were built anywhere between the 1940s and last year, wherever possible, Fitzgerald said.
