INDOOR VEGETABLE GARDEN WITH LED LIGHTS

You must have heard about indoor vegetable garden, but do you know now you can grow your vegetables indoor with LED lights?

Recently, the household in Korea used this new way to grow fresh and healthy vegetable in the dead of winter with LEDs. As LEDs gives out less heat than CFLs and have higher light quality, the vegetables grow very well.

For the fresh and tasty vegetables in the winter, the household pay for the expensive LEDs by themselves. They regard this as an investment of healthy.

100-WATT LIGHT BULB IS GOING AWAY

With the law signed by President George W. Bush in 2007, the US manufactores are no longer able to product 100-watt bulb since 1st, Jan, 2012.
If this legislation is really accepted by consumers? It still need the time to tell the truth. According to the research, only around 20% people agree to phase out 100-watt bulbs. Consumers now take buying bulb as a kind of investment choice. The bulb is not only required to emit lights, but also have other specialties like refrigerators.
Through an unscientific online poll, almost 50% consumers said they would like to choose LED as their house lighting , although it’s cost more than 20$, it can last more than 20 years.

3-DIMENSION SHAPESWITH LEDS

No matter if you have used LED lights or not, you must know LEDs are not energy-saving and environmental-friendly. Today, another characteristic of LEDs –flexibility will be introduced to you.

Picture flexible LED mesh and been hacd-soldered into 3-dimensional shapes. The pieces , created by Jason Krugman, blur the line between the living world and the digital realm. This series of LED masterpiece named Organic Electric is considered as an exploration into 3-dimensional electro-luminescent LED structures from traditional 2-dimensional displays.

Actually, you can even combine the pieces in the series with an LED light controller. They will be animated when you touch them!

Europe ask for solutions face to the boom of LED lighting

Just to reminder you the context, as in other continents of the world, the decision had been taken to phase out the sale of traditional light bulbs in the European Union. The deadline is September of 2012. This means that during the next years it’s about 8 billion of incandescent lamps in European homes, offices and streets that will need to be replaced by more energy efficient lighting solutions. Nowadays, LED lighting is one of the most energy-efficient and versatile forms of lighting, it allows saving up to 70% energy and money compared to other lighting technologies. These include LED and organic LED (or OLED) lighting technologies also known as Solid State Lighting (SSL).

The point is that the European Commission have adopted a Green Paper and launched a public consultation on the future of LED-based lighting. In its Green Paper "Lighting the Future" the Commission proposes measures to speed up the deployment of this innovative and eco-friendly lighting that saves energy and money while offering a good quality of light. Faster LED deployment will ensure the global leadership position of the European lighting industry and help reduce energy use from lighting by 20% by 2020.

But the LED lighting still has some challenges, like the high purchase prices, lack of familiarity among potential users and a lack of common standards. As a result, a consultation will run until 29 February 2012 to collect feedback on the Commission's ideas.

LED lights equip Jackson Township.

A major change is driven to perform in the land of mass consumption, the United States. Indeed, a growing city begins on the path to the environment, replacing lamps and bulbs of their cities.

As many cities in USA, Jackson township council have approved a new project for the city. This project consists on the replacement of 900 streetlights in the city by the new technology LED. For many reasons, the project has been created. Firstly, it will help the city to save a significant sum of money. Secondly, the lamps used won’t have maintenance problems as the products equipped the streetlights. Lastly, the project is engaged in a green project to reduce the carbon impact on the earth. All those reasons are possible thanks to the new LED light technology. Indeed, the LED consumes less energy than the incandescent lights, so the electricity bill will be reduced. Then, the new lamps have an efficient better lifetime and need less maintenance inspection.

Thus, Jackson Township entered in a large ecological project launched by the US government to replace the streetlights towards the American cities.
