Living LED Screen Created by Bacteria!

What are you think to this nice picture? Yes, it is a LED screen. It is not an ordinary screen as is make from millions of fluorescent E. coli bacteria flash at once.

This fantastic idea is carried out by Jeff Hasty, a professor of biology and bioengineering and his research team in the university. Actually, they used 5 years to develop this living LED screen what they calls the “biopixels”. In 2008, they showed the bacteria can produce a glowing light with it’s biological clock inside. In 2010, they were able to let bacteria in different colonies to light at the same time. Now, the bacteria could communicate with each other even in different colonies and light together.

Then, the living LED screen was born!
